Energy Tips
Some energy saving suggestions for your consideration
A property without cavity wall and loft insulation could be loosing 50% of its heat that has been paid for.
New gas condensing boilers are far more efficient in producing hot water and space heating, as they re-use the heat from hot flu gases that other boilers “throw away”.
A condensing combination boiler has no need for a cold or hot water tank, giving you more storage space plus you only pay for the hot water that comes out of the tap.
If you have an existing copper hot water cylinder, check that you have a thermostat installed (about one third up the tank). If so, great savings can be made to reset the temperature to 65 degrees. If you do not have a hot water thermostat, perhaps think about having one installed.
Thermostatic radiator valves (TRVs) fitted to each radiator restricts the flow of hot water and regulates the temperature in each room, lowering fuel costs and providing a greater level of comfort.
Consider reducing your room stat temperature to 19 degrees in the living room. This will make great savings and you will hardly notice the difference in temperature.
Low energy light bulbs are now being produced in different shapes and sizes to fit most fittings, although initially more expensive, once installed they last for a very long time indeed and use far less energy to produce the equivalent level of light.
Switch off TV’s/Computers etc., at night or when not in use.
Taking a shower uses 60% less hot water than a bath.
Turn down the temperature of washing machines from a 60 degree cycle to 40 degrees and save 33% electricity needed for each wash.
These measures will save you money each and every day! As well
as reducing your households carbon footprint.
